A 6-minute work derived from Schuman’s band overture ‘Chester’. Commissioned for the 8th Van Cliburn Intl.Piano Competition by Mrs. W.W. Lynch and the Pianists Foundation of America in memory of Mildred Foster. Schuman’s sense of identity with early American composer William Billings is evident in the straight-forward yet passionate development of the Revolutionary War hymn tune theme. Medium.
