The Mission VM-1 is a passive volume pedal specifically crafted for guitar use. With a 500K impedance, it is ideal for most passive electric guitar pickups. The input and output connections are hand-wired through the potentiometer, which is sealed requires no maintenance and is rated for over one million operations. It is a completely passive pedal requiring no battery or external power supply to function.
One common issue with passive volume pedals is the loss of high frequencies, often referred to as “tone suck.” This problem typically arises when the signal is divided between the main output and a separate tuner output. The added resistance and capacitance in the signal chain caused by additional cables and components can create a low-pass filter effect, resulting in a loss of high frequencies. The VM-1 addresses this issue by isolating the tuner output with a mute switch. In normal mode, the tuner output is completely bypassed, and it is activated only when the mute switch is engaged.
