About
The Voyager features a well balanced solid body, offset design that is made from premium hand selected tone woods with light action and smooth playability. The design captures the traditions of Californian electric guitar as well as pushing it further with modern revisions and Chad’s incredible workmanship and attention to detail.
You might be thinking you’re seeing double, that is if you follow our shop or social media updates of course, as I recently had one that looked just like this arrive and sell within the same week! So I spoken with Chad, and seeing as the awesome open grain satin black and quality tort visual was a hit, I thought it would be nice to get a humbucker equipped version in for those that liked the build but wanted PAF tones instead of the noiseless single coils sounds like in the previous build.
It features some signature Jennings details like the lightweight roasted swamp ash body and deep open grain satin finish, matching headstock, ‘hollow circle’ fingerboard inlays, Bigsby and stable roller bridge. This particular stock build features some California, USA made ‘Lambertones’ humbuckers, with the ‘Crema’ model in the neck and bridge. These are a low wind/output dynamic PAF so great for lush cleans and that edge of breakup kind of tone! Familiar 25.5” scale length, super comfortable offset body with arm and tummy carves and Chad’s amazing signature neck profile/shape results in a stunning instrument, as with all of Chad’s builds. A lovely deep colour nitrate tort pickguard finishes this off stylistically so nicely too.
Chad’s Bigsby equipped guitars aren’t just standard models with a vibrato drilled into the body either, he addresses key setup benefits such as a shallower neck pocket which allows for a neck heel that sits higher in the body increasing the Voyagers break angle over the bridge. This aids the guitars setup, resonance and overall stability in tuning. It’s details like this that make a Bigsby equipped guitar reliable and put the fight tonally to a hardtail bridge guitar and it sounds/plays wicked!
